Today I had the exciting opportunity to interview a friend of mine and fellow Mompreneur, Rhonda Marie. She’s a LuLaRoe Consultant and sells LulaRoe clothing at pop-up shops around town. She’s been really enjoying running her own business and I got to sit down with her and get the details of what it’s like to sell for LuLaRoe.

Here’s my interview, hope you enjoy!
Why did you decide to start selling LulaRoe’s clothing?
Last year I had heard of a couple of friends going to these LuLaroe pop-up shops and I went to one and bought a pair of buttery soft leggings and a dress from my daughter. I was hooked and so were my daughters, so after hosting one and buying more clothes I decided to sign up and be a consultant myself.
What made you want to work with LuLaRoe specifically?
It just seemed like a very fun and supportive group a women to become part of. The company has a lot of good core values and the clothing helps women feel good about themselves.
How long did it take for you to get your LulaRoe consultant business up and running?
Once I decided to sign up I contacted my friend who is also a LulaRoe consultant. She emailed me a contract and a business overview and I looked over it and I was signed up within a week. As soon as I had received my initial inventory I had a party booked that week.
What are your favorite things about the LulaRoe brand?
My favorite things about the brand are that the clothes are super comfortable and we have sizes that fit everyone! The sizes range from XXS-XXXL and that’s so great. Also, the products are reasonably priced.
The LuLaRoe community is like a great group of close friends. We have monthly meetings with all the LuLaRoe consultants in town. We share tips that we’ve all learned that will make our LuLaRoe business better or easier. If anything ever comes up we can always message each other with questions we have or if we just want to swap clothes.
What is your favorite thing about the LuLaRoe concept?
The one thing I love about LuLaRoe is how personal it is. It is a personal shopping experience. A woman hosts a party, I bring all my inventory (350-600+ pieces) and her friends just shop! Its so nice to be able to try on clothes and hang out with friends. You don’t have to listen to a 15 minute speech or order from a catalog, and you take everything you want home that night. People can come and go as they please. Its perfect! Plus hostesses earn a free item of clothing for every 10 pieces sold at her party that night.
What are LulaRoe parties like and how much do you make at each party?
An average party is 1.5 – 2 hour open house where people can come and go as they please. On average 20-27 pieces are sold at a profit of $19 per piece. Some parties are higher and some parties are lower.
How do you promote your parties?
As far as promoting, a hostess does some of that when she hostess a party. She will need to invite and tell as many people as she can to come to her party. I will also promote on social media to describe some of the styles of clothes I will be bringing to her house and describing the brand for anyone who has never heard about LuLaRoe before. So it can range from an hour a day to just a couple hours every other day.
What are the Lularoe consultant startup costs?
To start up the business you will need to purchase your initial inventory which is your LuLaRoe start up kit. Your initial inventory will include around 350 pieces about 5 styles and a variety of sizes that will choose. The cost is approximately $5000-$6000.
By making this step you are making a huge step towards the freedom that comes from owning your own business. This is a simple business and as you work you can earn full time pay for part time work. With LulaRoe, in a matter of months you can repay your initial investment and have money in the bank.
What has becoming a LulaRoe consultant done for you and your family?
LuLaRoe has given me something I can do for myself and provide a little extra for my family. I love being able to book 2 parties a week in the evenings when my husband is home and go have a fun making other woman feel happy about themselves. Right now I plan my work hours around my family’s needs. I am able to have a ton of flexibility with all the things that come up with being a mom, but then have my own business that can provided extra income for us as well.
